Ask the Naturalist
Wondering why the bees buzz or the birds chirp? Or
what makes snakes slither and leaves fall? Our naturalists have the answers to
all these questions and more.
WHO ARE PARK NATURALISTS?
Park naturalists are the people at Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park who
interpret nature using the natural surroundings and the interpretive museum
within our 160-acre park. The naturalists come from a variety of natural science
backgrounds including geology, ornithology, mammology, herpetology, and botany/horticulture.
Naturalists conduct research, maintain park facilities, design and build interpretive
exhibits, develop educational curricula, promote environmental awareness to
school groups and organizational groups such as scouting and church groups
via on-site and outreach programs.
