Junior Naturalist Program

A Naturalist is someone who loves nature and all things natural. The Junior Naturalist Program is intended to develop environmental awareness in young park visitors, ages 7 through 14. Participants who complete all requirements will earn a Junior Naturalist Certificate and Badge. After completing the basic Junior Naturalist Program, additional specialized badges may be earned. Prerequisites for Junior Naturalist Badge

  • Must be 7-14 years old

  • Must contact Park Naturalist to arrange for orientation meeting

  • Dress requirements: Long pants-jeans, socks and sturdy shoes or hiking shoes and a shirt. Bring a jacket and hat if it is cool.

  • Requirements: Complete and record activities on the Activity Card within 1 year

Activities for Program

  1. Attend a Program Orientation

  2. Attend a Guided Trial Walk

  3. Complete Nature Study Project

  4. Park Programs
    ·
            Attend 2 Park Program
    ·
            Attend 1 Park Program and give a short nature presentation

  5. Identify 10 plants and / or animals found in the park
